This Fridays run (May 11)

Just a reminder for this weeks run, its my turn this week so hope I can follow Gerry's fine run of two weeks ago.

The route will encompass Bently, Odiham, Liss, Alton, Liphook, Midhurst, Lurgashall, they may not be in that order it all depends on the inbuilt satnav, covering 70 miles or so on a wide mix of roads with nothing too challenging so suitable for all, pace and the marking system allow for all abilities.
followed with a pub meal about 20 miles short of Guildford so not too long a run back.

Calendar has all the details, just remember 6.30 is the start time not get there time.

Good weather has been arranged.

Gavin Jones

Absolutely the very last (of this year's) summer whines

The nights are drawing in remorselessly, United continue to win mercilessly and this Thursday sadly marks the very last of the Summer Whines in their 2011 guise (unless we rebrand and start a series of night school classes.)

So, in the interests of democracy I am throwing it open. For those who think they can make it I am thinking that maybe, just maybe, one last, 2011 valedictory run to the coast is called for. Maybe the Regency or Donatello's at Brighton - maybe for popularity's sake, a piscine extravaganza at the Fish Factory in Worthing. (Not Eastbourne - it's maybe a tad too far in what will mostly be twilight and dark.) My aim to be at the coast somewhere between 8.30-9.00 and back on the road home at say 10.00-10.30 at the absolute latest. Unless the group thinks otherwise.

On the other hand we could do another Surrey-ish based one. Regardless, our CBT-simulation group will be setting off from Reigate Hill at 7.00.

I am going to be otherwise engaged and very busy, focussing on other things over the next 48 hours, so I am willing to go with the majority, if anyone cares to cast a vote or make a suggestion by posting on here.

Any road up (as we say oop Noorth), I'll tally up any responses, make a decision and post a destination here by say, 10.00-ish on Wednesday evening.

The forecast is reasonable so far, but it may be worth trying out the thermals, winter gloves and heated grips. Whatever the state of the weather, I'll be there in any case. And of course as far as headlights are concerned mine were far too weedy for the dark and dim back lanes of Nether Shere and Upper Leith Hill recently, so we won't be going there again for a while...

Thoughts and preferences anybody? Over to you...

p.s. Run pace and types of road will be adjusted to suit the overall comfort, wishes and capabilities of the group as far as is humanly possible. So that includes any newcomers and associates. If you haven't tried it before, now's your chance. We're a happy, helpful and friendly little bunch.

Friday 29 July run is on

This is the last Friday evening run in the calendar and it will be the last one I run for the time being as I have become inundated with work. I may do some ad hoc runs later in the summer / autumn if time permits, probably reverting to Wednesdays.

All welcome this evening.

Kind regards

Adrian

Friday 22 July run - Adrian has a broken toe

Can any of the regulars lead the run this week instead of me?

I appear to have broken my toe ( it really hurt - don't ask) and cannot presently get a motorcycle boot on properly. Unless the swelling has diminished quite a bit by Friday, I will be unable to lead.

Adrian

Run tonight - please post here if coming

It is presently chucking it down. My experience is that if heavy rain is forecast on the evening of a club run, no one turns up except one person who really likes the rain.

Please post here if you are coming this evening even if it is still raining. Need say 5 people to make it worthwhile getting soaked / catching a cold / getting bike covered in mud etc. This would make it my third soaking this week and I am wondering where summer has gone.

In absence of 5 confirmed runners here by 6pm ride will not be going ahead with me at the helm and I will stay in my warm and dry office.

Adrian
07718 915265

The Friday evening run this week will leave from Newlands Corner just after 6.30 as usual and will take a circular twisty route past Chichester, in emulation of the brilliant roads we experienced in Luxembourg over the weekend (over 70 club members went out and had a great time).

All members and associates welcome.

Should be back in Guildford area by 10.30pm at the latest.

Adrian
